Pinpoint Weather: Rain continues Thursday, trending warmer


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Showers and storms will linger into Thursday evening before exiting the region overnight. While Friday looks drier, unsettled weather is slated for the weekend through next week.

Some rain showers may linger into Friday morning. Otherwise, cloud cover will gradually decrease. Southwest and Central Virginia can expect breezy and warmer-than-average temperatures. Morning lows will be in the upper 30s and 40s. Afternoon highs will top out in the 50s and lower/middle 60s.

A storm system will bring scattered rain showers to the region from Friday night through Saturday. Some locations north of I-64 could see some freezing rain. It will be cooler with highs in the 40s.

Snow showers may develop in the mountains of West Virginia Saturday night into Sunday morning. The rest of the region can expect a mix of sun and clouds for the day. Afternoon temperatures will reach the 40s and 50s.

An unsettled weather pattern is anticipated for the upcoming week. While details are still being ironed out, wet weather is forecast for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Wintry precipitation cannot be ruled out. It will be cooler with morning lows in the lower 30s and afternoon highs in the 30s and lower 40s.
