ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)—Unseasonably cold conditions continue to impact Southwest and Central Virginia through the middle of the week.
Light snow showers are possible on Tuesday morning in the New River Valley. Otherwise, temperatures will start in the 20s and teens with wind chill values in the single digits and teens. Skies will gradually clear overhead.

Breezy winds will blow through the region with gusts as high as 25 mph. These northwest winds will keep the cold air in place. Expect increasing sunshine across Southwest and Central Virginia with afternoon temperatures rising into the 30s and lower 40s.

Frigid air is slated for Wednesday morning; low temperatures will be in the teens. Wind chill values in the single digits are possible along and west of the Blue Ridge. However, southerly winds will allow for slightly milder afternoon conditions. Highs will be in the 40s. Increasing clouds are anticipated late in the day.
A cold front will pass through Southwest and Central Virginia on Thursday. Some light rain and snow showers are possible overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. Accumulating snowfall may occur toward the mountains at elevations above 3000 feet. Winds will pick up with gusts up to 40 mph. Thursday’s highs will be in the 30s and 40s.
Unseasonably cold conditions will return on Friday. Morning lows will be in the teens and lower 20s while afternoon temperatures will reach the 30s.


Temperatures will start to trend closer to average over the weekend. Highs will generally be in the 40s and lower 50s. Rain showers are possible late Sunday into Monday.
