Pinpoint Weather: Mild Tuesday, more rain on Wednesday

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)—A few showers are possible on Tuesday in Southwest and Central Virginia. However, more rain is slated for Wednesday. Colder conditions are on the way.

Pockets of dense fog may impact the Tuesday morning commute. While spotty light rain showers are possible as a cold front passes through, many will notice skies partially clearing as the day continues. Afternoon temperatures will reach the warmer-than-average upper 50s and lower/middle 60s.

Another batch of scattered rain showers is slated for Wednesday. Morning showers are possible, but there is a greater chance of rain during the afternoon and evening. Expect rainfall amounts of less than half an inch. Highs will be in the upper 50s and lower/middle 60s.

Drier weather is expected on Thursday as a cold front moves through Southwest and Central Virginia early in the morning. Much cooler air will begin to move into the area. Afternoon temperatures will reach the 40s and lower 50s under increasing sunshine.

West-slope snow showers may develop on Friday as northwest winds increase behind Thursday’s front. These cold brisk winds will cause temperatures to tumble by the end of the week. Morning temperatures will start in the 20s and lower 30s while afternoon highs will be in the lower 40s and 30s.

A mix of sun and clouds will be overhead on Saturday with breezy winds blowing through. Highs will top out in the cold 30s and lower 40s. Mountain snow showers are possible. Sunday will be even colder with afternoon temperatures reaching the 30s. Morning lows will be in the lower/middle 20s.
