ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)—The cold weather pattern will continue across Southwest and Central Virginia. Mountain snow showers are possible during the week.
Monday will start with morning temperatures in the sub-freezing upper teens and 20s. Due to Sunday’s snow, a few slick spots are possible during the morning near the West Virginia – Virginia line and the New River Valley. Overall, a variable mix of sun and clouds is slated for the day with brisk winds blowing through. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 20s and 30s. A few snow flurries cannot be ruled out.
Tuesday will be similar to Monday. Morning temperatures will start in the cold teens and lower 20s. Afternoon temperatures will reach the upper 20s and 30s under partly to mostly sunny skies.
Frigid air is slated for Wednesday morning as low temperatures will be in the teens. Wind chill values in the single digits are possible along and west of the Blue Ridge. However, southerly winds will allow for slightly milder afternoon conditions. Highs will be in the 40s.
A cold front will pass through Southwest and Central Virginia on Thursday. Some rain and snow showers are possible overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. Winds will pick up with gusts up to 40 mph. Thursday’s highs will be in the 30s and 40s.
Unseasonably cold conditions will return on Friday. Morning lows will be in the teens and lower 20s while afternoon temperatures will reach the 30s.
