Pinpoint Weather: Freezing Rain overnight, warmer tomorrow

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Winter Storm Warning continues for much of the region overnight as additional freezing rain is expected.

Additional freezing rain up to 0.3″ is expected with locally higher amounts along the Blue Ridge.

A cold front will move through the region Thursday morning, pushing the rain and clouds out of the region.

Heavy rain is possible, especially in the south where more than an inch of rain is possible through Thursday morning. Isolated flooding is possible.

As the front moves out, sunshine will return to the area, which will allow temperatures to rise into the 40s and 50s during the afternoon hours.

Behind the front, breezy conditions are expected Thursday afternoon and evening. Wind gusts to 25 mph are possible. Wind speeds will decrease overnight into Friday morning.

Temperatures will be slightly cooler on Friday with highs in the 40s. Cool air remains in place on Saturday with rain likely. Warmer air builds in on Sunday, but heavy rain is possible. Dry conditions return early next week with highs in the 30s and 40s. A wintry mix is again possible on Wednesday.
