Pinpoint Weather: Flood Watch as heavy rain returns


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Flood Watch is in effect through early Saturday morning for the westernmost counties in Virginia into West Virginia. Heavy rain and snow melt could cause flooding along streams and creeks and in low-lying areas.

Less rain is expected in the south with around a half inch expected. Along Route 460, around one inch is forecast with areas along and north of Interstate 64 expected to see one to three inches.

Rain will overspread the area during the evening and overnight hours. Some breaks are expected on Friday with steady rain moving in again during the afternoon and evening hours before ending.

Temperatures will remain above average on Friday, starting the day near 40 before rising into the 50s during the afternoon. Southside will be slightly warmer, with highs in the 60s expected.

Temperatures will remain pleasant on Saturday before dropping on Sunday. Warmer air returns for most of next week.
