Pinpoint Weather: Dry Wednesday, wet Thursday

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — High pressure will remain in control of our weather again on Wednesday. The day will start with sunshine before clouds begin to build into the region during the afternoon and evening.

Temperatures on Wednesday will be cooler with many starting in the 30s before rising into the 50s during the afternoon.

Rain will arrive in the early morning hours on Thursday and continue throughout the day, ending for most Friday morning. Rainfall will average 0.75 to one inch.

As the rain begins, some of the higher peaks could see a few hours of freezing rain. The best potential for this will be in western Greenbrier and Pocahontas Counties with spotty icing possible in the border counties.

Once the rain exits Friday morning, sunshine will return and stick around into early next week. Temperatures will return to the 50s on Friday with 60s expected again starting on Saturday.
