ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Friday will offer a brief break from the wet conditions. However, an unsettled weather pattern is anticipated over the weekend through next week.
Partly to mostly sunny skies will be overhead on Friday. Morning temperatures will start in the 40s before rising into the warmer-than-average 50s and lower 60s by the afternoon. Winds may be breezy.
A storm system will bring scattered rain showers to the region, starting late Friday night and continuing through Saturday. Some locations north of I-64 could see some freezing rain. Overall, it will be cloudier and cooler with highs in the 40s.

Snow showers may develop in the mountains of West Virginia on Sunday. The rest of the region can expect a mix of sun and clouds for the day. Afternoon temperatures will reach the 40s and 50s.

On Monday, a weak low over the Carolina may throw some rain and snow showers into Southwest and Central Virginia, especially south of US 460. Morning temperatures will start in the lower/middle 30s before rising into the upper 30s and lower/middle 40s by the afternoon.

There is a greater chance for widespread precipitation on Tuesday. Mixed precipitation types are anticipated, but the amount of snow and ice will depend on how long the cold air stays in place. Regardless, it will be wet and colder with temperatures in the 30s. Due to the saturated ground, there is the risk of flooding, especially west of the Blue Ridge.
