ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)—High pressure will keep Southwest and Central Virginia mostly dry and calm for the next few days.
It will be a calm and cold Friday morning with temperatures starting in the frigid 20s. Daytime temperatures will rise into the 40s and lower 50s under variably cloudy skies.
A dry and quiet Saturday is in the forecast. Morning lows will be close to 30 degrees and afternoon highs will reach the upper 30s and 40s. A mix of sun and clouds is slated for the day with more cloud cover anticipated overnight.
A storm system will bring rain showers to the region on Sunday. Some freezing rain and sleet may mix in during the early morning hours as temperatures will be in the 20s and lower 30s. Light ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch are possible. Isolated patches of black ice may develop on roads.
Much of the precipitation should change to all rain by midday as temperatures warm up into the 30s and 40s. Rain chances will gradually decrease from Sunday night into Monday morning.
Once the morning showers taper off, there will be a period of dry weather from Monday afternoon into the evening. It will be slightly milder with highs in the upper 40s and 50s.
A front will pass through Southwest and Central Virginia on Tuesday. Scattered rain showers will have the chance to move through Monday night before wrapping up around midday on Tuesday. Afternoon temperatuers will reach the warmer 50s and lower 60s.
