Pinpoint Weather: Cooler Friday, warmer weekend


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Temperatures rebound above freezing for most on Thursday, but will be slightly cooler on Friday as a weak cold front moves through the region. Clouds will increase across western Virginia with snow possible for the western slopes of the mountains. Up to one inch is expected for the higher peaks.

Temperatures on Friday will start in the teens and 20s before rising into the 20s and 30s during the afternoon.

Warmer air will return for the weekend and the first half of next week as temperatures return to the 40s and 50s. Another cool-down is expected on Thursday.

So far in January, temperatures have remained below average for most of the month. Through January 22nd, the average temperature has been 29.2 degrees, which is more than seven degrees below average, making this month the fourth coldest on record.
