Pinpoint Weather: Cooler, fall-like air by the midweek


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Two cold fronts will pass through Southwest and Central Virginia on Monday, helping to bring cooler conditions to the region.

Ahead of a front, patchy fog and spotty rain showers may impact the Monday morning commute. Once the first front passes through, skies will gradually clear with increasing winds from the west. Gusts of 20 – 30 mph are possible. Highs will be in the upper 60s and lower/middle 70s.

A secondary cold front will move through Monday night, reinforcing cooler and drier air throughout Southwest and Central Virginia. For Tuesday morning, temperatures will start in the 40s. Afternoon temperatures will reach the upper 50s and lower/middle 60s under mostly sunny skies.

Wednesday will be cooler and mostly dry. Morning lows will be in the cold upper 20s and lower 30s while afternoon highs will top out in the mid-50s. It will be a mostly sunny start, but clouds will increase during the late afternoon and evening hours.

A storm system will impact the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday. Scattered showers are possible with cloudy skies overhead. Thursday will be the coolest day of the week; highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
