Pinpoint Weather: Cold Weather Advisory, windy


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for areas along and west of the Blue Ridge overnight. When factoring in the wind, it will feel as cold as -10.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for Carroll, Grayson and Floyd Counties through 4 a.m. on Wednesday. Wind gusts to 50 mph are possible, especially at higher elevations.

Elsewhere, wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph are possible into Wednesday before decreasing during the night. Winds will increase again on Thursday.

As the next storm system drops in our direction, northwest winds will bring light snow showers to the northwestern mountains where up to an inch of snow is possible. Elsewhere, sunshine and windy conditions are expected.

Temperatures will be a few degrees colder on Wednesday, starting off in the teens, before rising into the 20s and 30s during the afternoon.

Temperatures will get a bit warmer Thursday through Sunday with highs in the 40s. Temperatures drop back into the 20s for highs next week. There is a chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday. As the rain starts, it could mix with snow. If the cold air arrives fast enough, the rain could change to snow before ending on Sunday.
