ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Grab the umbrella! Rain is likely across Southwest and Central Virginia on Thursday.
Widespread rain is anticipated in the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday as a storm system moves through the region. Isolated pockets of sleet and freezing rain may develop at higher elevations during the morning hours. However, many will see a chilly rain throughout the day.
Temperatures will steadily stay in the upper 30s and 40s on Thursday under cloudy skies. Overall, this will be a beneficial rainfall event with totals of 1.0 – 1.5″ possible.
On Friday, drier air will filter in behind the storm system. While a few morning showers are possible, much of the region will begin to dry off. Winds may become breezy at times. Mostly to partly cloudy skies will be overhead as afternoon temperatures rise into the 50s and lower 60s.
Mostly dry and mostly clear weather is anticipated for the weekend. Saturday will be breezy with afternoon temperatures reaching the upper 50s and lower/middle 60s. Sunday will be slightly milder with highs in the 60s across Southwest and Central Virginia.
The start of the upcoming week will be mostly dry. A mix of sun and clouds will be overhead for Monday and Tuesday with afternoon highs in the 60s. Showers are possible on Wednesday and Thursday.
