Pinpoint Weather: Additional rain Sunday, winds increase


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Flooding remains likely along parts of the Roanoke and James Rivers through the day on Sunday. Flooding will be minor along the James with moderate flooding for the Roanoke River.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for areas west of the Blue Ridge on Sunday as the next round of rain moves through. An additional half inch of rain is possible.

The cold front will move through the region on Sunday morning, bringing an additional band of rain. By midday, the heaviest rain will move out of the region.

Behind the front, winds will increase. A Wind Advisory is in effect from midday Sunday through 4 p.m. Monday as winds could gust to 50 mph.

Temperatures will get warmer on Sunday, starting in the 30s and 40s before rising into the 50s and 60s.

Colder air will move into the region next week with highs in the 30s and 40s. Another chance for wintry weather arrives Wednesday and Thursday.
