ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – With one week left before the deadline, FEMA is advising residents to apply for assistance after Hurricane Helene.
December 2 is the last day for anyone in Virginia affected by Hurricane Helene to apply for FEMA assistance.
Survivors can apply through the following methods:
- Visiting a Disaster Recovery Center
- Going online to DisasterAssistance.gov
- Downloading the FEMA mobile app
- Calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. The helpline is available seven days a week in most languages. If you use video relay service, captioned telephone service, or others, give FEMA your number for that service.
Individuals Bedford, Bland, Carroll, Giles, Grayson, Lee, Montgomery, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise, and Wythe counties and cities of Galax and Radford, have one week left to apply for FEMA assistance.
FEMA wants to remind people that grants do not have to be repaid, are non-taxable, and do NOT affect benefits including Social Security and Medicaid.
You may be eligible for assistance with temporary housing, home repairs, personal property losses, and other disaster-related needs.
