One dead after house fire in Danville



DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – The Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Thursday afternoon that left one person dead.

On Thursday, December 26 crews responded in less than four minutes to the 3500 block of Westover Drive.

Upon arrival, crews found fire coming from the residence and immediately started to tackle the blaze while also searching the home.

A victim was found inside and removed from the home and was transported to SOVAH Health in Danville. The patient later died due to their injuries.

Fifteen firefighters stayed on the scene for over two hours to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Danville Fire Marshal’s Office and the Danville Police Department.
