On the Farm: Winging it on Super Sunday!

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — If you love Super Bowl snacks, then thank a farmer. Whether it is wings, or chili, or nachos, or barbecue, or nearly anything else on your Big Game buffet table, an American farmer probably had something to do with it.

While egg prices are skyrocketing, chicken prices are only edging up slightly. That is because eggs and meat come from different flocks. Egg flocks are being hit harder by avian flu than are meat flocks.

Experts estimate 1.47 billion chicken wings will be eaten by Americans on Super Bowl Sunday. That is good news for Virginia. The Commonwealth is one of the top chicken producers in the country.
