HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a woman for allegedly planning a murder for hire in Ridgeway on November 26.
The sheriff said on Tuesday, a “confidential source” acting under the direction of law enforcement, allegedly captured audio and video evidence of a meeting with 44-year-old Gennevieve McGhee at a location on Chestnut Knob Road planning a murder for hire.
In the alleged recorded conversation, McGhee and the confidential source allegedly discussed detailed plans including payment arrangements and instructions to carry out a robbery and murder.
According to the sheriff, McGhee allegedly gave detailed instructions on how to carry out the plan.
On November 27, Henry County Sheriff deputies took McGee into custody.
McGhee has been arrested and charged with the following:
- Violation of Virginia Code Section 18.2-29: Criminal Solicitation of Murder
- Violation of Virginia Code Section 18.2-22: Conspiracy to Commit a Felony
She is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
The Sheriff said the investigation is still ongoing and is currently under review by the Henry County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
