Martinsville-Henry County SPCA pauses intakes due to renovations

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Martinsville-Henry County SPCA announced Friday that it would begin renovations and repairs to its facility beginning in Mid-March.

The bulk of the repairs will take place in the animal housing areas, meaning the SPCA will have to cut back its animal intakes, beginning with dogs, during the construction period.

The project is expected to take 27 weeks to complete.

The shelter encourages anyone who comes across a stray animal in the area during the time of construction to check with neighbors and social media for reports of missing animals.

Otherwise, people can contact dispatch at (276) 638-8751 to report a stray animal.

The SPCA says it will continue to post reports of lost and found animals to its social media pages.

Anyone wishing to surrender an animal can be placed on a waiting list with the SPCA until space becomes available.

Otherwise, they can contact either the Martinsville City or Henry County animal shelters for immediate surrenders.
