Man tased by Alleghany County Deputy after allegedly resisting arrest



ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Clifton Forge Police Department and the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office report using force while taking a man into custody in December 2024.

According to the Alleghany Sheriff, on Monday, December 30, Clifton Forge PD was notified of shoplifting at a local business.

During an investigation, 37-year-old Xavier Jones of Clifton Forge was identified as the alleged suspect.

Law enforcement went to a home at the 1300 block of Jackson Street where Jones allegedly attempted to flee through a nearby wood-line. Jones was found again on Interstate 64 by an Alleghany County Sheriff Deputy who gave commands for him to stop. Jones allegedly refused to cooperate forcing the deputy to use a taser to take him into custody.

Jones was taken to Lewis Gale Alleghany and treated for his injuries and was later taken to Lewis Gale Salem.

The Use of Force Investigation has been given to the Virginia State Police.
