ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Roanoke City Commonwealth’s Attorney Office has announced the conviction of a man for the 2023 double murder of Brandi Campbell and Robert Moorman.
According to the Commonwealth’s Attorney, 53-year-old Alex Rios has been found guilty of one count of First-Degree Murder of Brandi Campbell, one count of First-Degree Murder of Robert Moorman, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of murder.
Court records show a verdict was reached by jury after a two-day trial on December 9 and 10, 2024. Evidence presented during the trial said that around 5:05 p.m. on July 3, 2023, Roanoke Police officers arrived at an apartment on Brandon Avenue SW and found the deceased bodies of Campbell and Moorman with gunshot and knife wounds.
After a lengthy investigation, Rios was identified as a suspect. Two search warrants were served, one at a residence in Salem, and another in Roanoke where investigators found the weapon used to murder Campbell and Moorman. Rios was then indicted by the Grand Jury for the City of Roanoke on December 4, 2023.

This successful prosecution would not have been possible without the hard work of the Roanoke Police Department and assistance from our community partners.” A sentencing date is scheduled for April 17, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
