Man charged in ongoing Nelson County drug investigation, according to sheriff



NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – On November 19, the Nelson County Sheriff arrested a man after serving a warrant in an ongoing drug investigation out of Nelson County.

The sheriff said that during the early morning hours on Tuesday, deputies and members of the 3A Regional Drug Task Force served a search warrant at a home in Lowesville for an ongoing investigation.

During the search, narcotics, multiple firearms, and property reported stolen from Nelson County and other surrounding jurisdictions were allegedly found.

A second search warrant was then obtained for another property in Nelson County, resulting in another search. The second search allegedly ended with additional property being found that was also reported stolen out of Nelson County and neighboring jurisdictions.

32-year-old John Brogan of Lowesville was also taken into custody as a result of the search warrants.

John Brogan has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I/II Narcotic
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of a Schedule I/II Narcotic

Brogan was held in the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional County Jail without bond.
