FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has made a felony arrest of a Henry County man after an ongoing drug investigation that began in August of 2024.
According to the sheriff, while conducting a drug trafficking surveillance operation at the Lake Inn near Westlake on August 30, 2024, deputies with the FCSO and Special Operation Division observed a man wanted on outstanding criminal charges.
27-year-old Bobby Nathaniel Courtney of Henry County was observed running into a room and leaving shortly after. He was then taken into custody by law enforcement.
A search warrant was then served for the room where Courtney was staying, which allegedly resulted in the discovery of the following items:
- Approximately 269 grams of heroin/fentanyl
- Approximately 978 grams of methamphetamine
- A firearm with ammunition
- Drug packaging supplies
- U.S. currency
Confirmation of the substances was done through forensic analysis and on January 8, warrants were issued for Courtney’s arrest on the following charges:
- Three felony counts of Sell, Distribute, etc. of Schedule I/II Drug (3rd or subsequent offense)
- One felony count of Sell Schedule I/II Drug while Possessing a Firearm
- One felony count of Distribution of More Than 200 Grams of Methamphetamine Mix
- One felony count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Distribute More Than 100 Grams of Heroin Mix
- One felony count of Weapon Possession by a Non-Violent Felon
- One misdemeanor count of Possession of Schedule III Drugs
Courtney is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center on additional charges.
