Lynchburg City Council elects Larry Taylor as Mayor



LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — On January 3, the Lynchburg City Council convened to elect the next Mayor and Vice Mayor for the next two years.

The Council met at 11 a.m. on Friday at City Hall to choose its leader for the next two years.

With a narrow majority vote, Larry Taylor officially won the election for Mayor.

Republican incumbent Mayor Stephanie Reed wanted to keep the position; however, the council voted 4-3 for Larry Taylor.

  • Votes for Larry Taylor: Curt Diemer, Marty Misjuns, Larry Taylor, Jacqueline Timmer
  • Votes for Stephanie Reed: Chris Faraldi, Stephanie Reed, Sterling Wilder

Curt Diemer has been elected to Vice Mayor by a 4-3 vote.
