LPD investigating May 2024 death of 4-month-old child as homicide



LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – In May of 2024, the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) responded to the Lynchburg General Hospital Emergency Department after the death of a 4-month-old infant.

The preliminary investigation revealed the infant passed away in the residence located in the 1700 block of Grace Street. Autopsy results revealed the infant was the victim of homicide.

Detectives interviewed both parents regarding the circumstances of the child’s death.

Then, on May 21, 2024, the child’s father was found dead in the Clay Street parking deck on the 800 block of Clay Street after taking his own life.

LPD said they are currently not looking for any suspects at this time, as the father was the only suspect.
