LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Lynchburg Police said a man has been charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of 36-year-old Anthony Dwight Davis that occurred on Water Gate Drive on October 1, 2024.
LPD said that on Thursday, January 1, 22-year-old Kevin Cantrell Brown Jr. of Amherst was arrested and charged with Murder, Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, Reckless handling of a firearm, Shooting into an occupied vehicle, and Discharge of a firearm in public.
Brown is currently being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
Police said that additionally, 20-year-old Jayon Zykelse Phelps of Lynchburg and 23-year-old Jermaine Shamont Hawkins Jr. of Lynchburg are also wanted in connection to the incident. Arrest warrants have been issued for the following charges:
- Murder
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
- Reckless handling of a firearm
- Shooting into an occupied vehicle
- Discharge of a firearm in public
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
