Local Roanoke County businesses receive $115,000 in grand awards



ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke County has announced grant funding to 13 businesses for growth and development.

The $115,000 in grant awards are by the Economic Development Authority (EDA) Business Equipment Acquisition Program (BEAP) Grant to aid in the new capital to grow business operations.

“Our local businesses are integral to Roanoke County,” said EDA Chair Woody Windley. “These grants demonstrate the County’s support of many different types of companies in our community and their continued growth.”

The BEAP program is a polite program to help the existing businesses in Roanoke County along with the Town of Vinton. The grant award for each business is up to 50% of capital acquisition costs and a cap of $20,000 per award.

The applicants for the grants were scored on criteria such as locally owned, total employees, engagement with resource partners, the impact on the business, and how they utilized local suppliers.
