ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The 36th annual Stocked Market held by the Junior League of the Roanoke Valley begins Friday November 8th and runs until Sunday November 10th.
The Junior League says, in those 36 years, it has raised $4.5 million for community initiatives throughout the Roanoke Valley.
The Stocked Market brings together more than a hundred vendors from all across the country, with more than 10,000 shoppers, and this year is no different, with some new faces along with fan favorites, the league is very excited to be back.
This year’s main cause is one that hits close to home for most of the organizers: literacy.
“A lot of us are teachers, we understand how important literacy is, but it doesn’t just mean literacy as in reading in the schools, it’s literacy of education, of the woman’s body, of finances, just having the literacy. Getting things out there so that people have more resources to become stronger individuals in the Roanoke Valley.”
When you get to the Berglund Center, make sure you come hungry and with a pocket full of money, because it’s got homemade food and treats and lots of clothing and jewelry to choose from.
If you plan on going out this weekend, tickets for one day are 10 dollars in advance online and 12 at the door.
The league wants everyone to remember that the Berglund Center has a clear bag policy, but you are allowed to bring shopping bags, they just have to be empty before hand.
