Illuminights and Walk of Lights canceled due to weather, refunds issued

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The City of Roanoke has announced that all Illuminights activities including the Walk of Lights Trail will be closed on December 11 due to weather.

The trail and activities will be canceled and closed due to High Wind Advisories from the National Weather Service for Roanoke County. Winds are forecasted at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

Explore Park is practicing safety measures from the National Weather Service to avoid the forested areas due to the threat of falling trees and limbs.

Refunds have already been issued to attendees who have purchased tickets for December 4. Explore Park is asking customers to wait five business days for the refund to go through.

There are still time slots for the remaining days at Illuminights through Monday, December 30.
