How to prepare your home for winter weather: NWS


BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The U.S. National Weather Service in Blacksburg is giving residents tips for Winter Weather Preparedness Week.

Tips include stocking non-required cooking food items like canned goods and other non-perishable items in your home during the winter months. Non-perishable foods can include canned meats, peanut butter, and more.

It is also important to include baby items, necessary medications, and water on the list. It is recommended to store a three-to-five-day supply in case of an emergency.

Some items may already be found in a hurricane kit, but it is important to make sure items are also in date.
