BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Virginia Tech Hokies hosted their third annual Shoes 4 Hope with Carilion Clinic.
On Wednesday, December 18 from noon to 2:00 p.m., the Hokies basketball players and coaches from the men’s and women’s teams worked with Carilion Pediatric Hematology-Oncology patients to fight pediatric cancer in a creative way.
More than 25 participating children and teens attended to the event to paint custom shoes for the players and coaches to wear during the basketball season. Coaches and players designed the shoes with the kids and their families.

This event is part of the NCAA’s ongoing initiative of “Coaches vs. Cancer” as collegiate basketball coaches and staff across the nation wear the designed shoes to raise awareness.
