Grayson County Sheriff’s Office warns residents of local scams



GRAYSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is warning local residents of multiple reports of scam calls.

Residents are reportedly being targeted by scammers, who are posing as Grayson County Deputies, in an attempt to extort money by demanding payment for non-existent fines.

Scammers are pretending to be Grayson County deputies and trying to trick residents into paying fake fines. Other scammers are claiming residents have a warrant for their arrest and must pay over the phone to avoid arrest.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is informing residents they do not request payments over the phone.
