ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Each week WFXR News highlights adoptable pets filling up animal shelters across Southwest and Central Virginia.

This week, on Tuesday, January 7, Athena Kokinakis with the Franklin County Animal Shelter introduced Ruby to Furry Friends!
Seven-month-old Ruby is a cattle dog mix. She can be a bit shy when you first meet her, but this girl is a sweetheart. She is friendly with most people, children, and other dogs.
Ruby still has some puppy mentality, so she can be outgoing and active at times. She enjoys going on walks and does well on a leash. Overall, Ruby would do well in almost any household that can give her plenty of love.
Ruby came to the shelter with her brother. He has been adopted, so it’s her turn to find a forever home, too!
If you’re interested in adopting Ruby, the Franklin County Animal Shelter is located at 81 State Street in Rocky Mount. The shelter is open from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
