Free rides to polling locations offered on election day in Roanoke City


ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – There will be free rides to polling locations in Roanoke City to aid Roanoke residents on Election Day of 2024.

On Tuesday, November 5, Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home & Crematory is giving free rides to various polling locations from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“We are delighted to offer free rides in Roanoke City for those who would like to vote,” said President/Owner Michael L. Hamlar.“

Voters are advised to call Hamlar-Curtis 24 hours in advance for a ride on, however, calls will be taken on Election Day.

“If someone would like to vote, transportation should not be an issue. We are just trying to do our civic duty,” says Michael L. Hamlar. “This is non-partisan effort.”

Hamlar-Curtis reminds all voters to bring their ID with them on Tuesday.

Valley Metro of Roanoke is also offering free bus fare for Election Day to ensure residents have a ride to vote in multiple locations within the city.
