ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Love conquers all, including winter weather. George’s Flowers has been doing their usual deliveries ahead of Valentine’s Day despite the snow, ice, and rain.
“We wish we could’ve had a snow day,” joked owner and founder George Clements. “But we couldn’t, we had to get in and make the flowers and design the flowers that we have going out plus we were doing deliveries.”
Staff tackled icy conditions to get to work on Tuesday and wet roads throughout this week’s weather. It’s the flower shop’s 44th Valentine’s Day and they expect to deliver up to 400 orders on Friday, but they also have other orders they have to fulfill, like sympathy flowers.
“It’s our 44-year legacy, we know we have a job to do,” said Clements.
As a reminder, get your Valentine’s delivery orders in Thursday. Clements says if you leave it until the last minute, your best bet is to visit your local florist in-person rather than order online.
