HILLSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – The Hillsville Fire Department reported that multiple people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 77 South on November 27.
Fire officials said that around 2:04 a.m. on Thursday, crews were dispatched to a crash on I-77 South at mile marker 18.5.

Five cars were involved in the crash including a tractor trailer. The tractor-trailer sustained major damage after going over an embankment and overturning. The driver was rescued and flown from the scene by AirCare 3 to be treated for injuries from the crash.
3 other people also involved in the crash were taken by ambulance to local hospitals.
I-77 South was closed for some time due to debris and hazards on the road from the crash.
Agencies on scene included CCSO, PGRS, CCFR, Wythe County EMS, and the Virginia State Police.
There is currently no information on the patient’s injuries at this time.
The crash remains under investigation by VSP.
