FEMA closing three SWV Disaster Recovery Center locations, learn more



GALAX, Va. (WFXR) – FEMA has announced the closing of three Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) locations in the Southwest Virginia area.

On Saturday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m. DRCs in Galax, Pembroke (Giles County), and Tazewell (Tazewell County) will be permanently closing.

FEMA said to receive disaster assistance, survivors in the area can still visit other DRC centers. To find a DRC near you, visit FEMA.gov/drc or text DRC and a ZIP code to 43362.

Survivors do not have to visit DCR to register for FEMA assistance instead call 800-621-FEMA (3362). The phone lines are toll-free and open 7 days a week. You can also visit DisasterAssistance.gov for registration or by using the FEMA App.

The FEMA disaster assistance deadline for applications is Monday, December 2.

Applicants who have received a letter of their application status from FEMA can call 800-621-FEMA (3362) or DCR for more information on the next steps of the process.
