ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Downtown Roanoke Inc. has you covered for finding the most unique gifts this holiday season with their annual gift guide encouraging you to buy local gifts this holiday season.
Within the 20 pages of the guide, there’s gifts for him or her, the home, as well as self care essentials, stuff for the kiddos, gifts for the outdoors fan in your life, or history buffs. You can also support the local art scene with your gift.
Don’t worry if you’re on a budget, there are plenty of options under $20.
“Having a gift guide here that focuses on small businesses, that focuses on local retailers, that focuses on local artisans, you’re going to find something unique that not everyone is going to have,” said Izzy Post, the director of marketing and communication for Downtown Roanoke Inc., “It also supports these business owners by giving them the opportunity to sell to you, and that money stays right here in your local community.”
The streets of downtown are filled with over 50 small businesses, 19 of them are highlighted within the 20 pages, like chocolatepaper.
“If you want to wrap it, we have wrapping paper, if you need something particular, we have really unique gifts that you can’t get anywhere else in the city,” said Madi Hill, an employee at chocolatepaper.
Hill says the chocolate stars there are the most popular. Both Post and Hill took advantage of the guide, buying their own friends and families some of those gifts.
“You know just seeing all of those options downtown, I did most of my holiday shopping here downtown, from the items brought to us on that gift guide,” said Post.
“Don’t tell anybody watching, but I did buy a good amount of Christmas presents here,” said Hill.
