ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – One of the area’s longest-running events is making a return, The Star City Half Marathon and 10K, presented by Virginia Amateur Sports.
The events will take place on Saturday, November 23 and the race will begin at 8:15 a.m. at Rivers Edge North in Downtown Roanoke to showcase the City’s Greenway. The race will end with a party of comfort food, race food, and music, and Blue Ridge Beverage will be at the party.
Kids Mile Fun run is returning this year and will start at 8:00 a.m.
The one-day event of races will feature the Half Marathon and 10K Road Race which will also provide medals for race participants and awards for the top 3 overall, top 3 masters, and top 3 in each age group.
There are over 650 participants expected to be at the event, which has been held for the past 37 years, even virtually during 2020. In 2024, numbers are expected to be near or higher than during the pandemic.
The race events are also a part of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Triple Crown challenge series, which will reward those who finish the area’s three biggest local marathon/half marathons within one year.
