Danville fire deemed ‘intentional’ with charges pending



DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – The Danville Fire Department is investigating an arson after responding to a structure fire on Tuesday, November 19.

Around 7:30 a.m. crews responded to a fire at a single-family home at 884 Piney Forest Road. Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building.

Firefighters were able to locate and rescue a man from an exterior window and then continued to search the rest of the house. During this time fire crews were also working to extinguish the fire.

There were three engines, one ladder truck, a safety officer, and a Battalion Chief. Other personnel on the scene included the Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, and Danville Utilities.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was determined by the Danville Fire Department Fire Marshall’s Office as intentional. Charges are still pending.
