Daniel Elwood Duncan indicted on six felony counts connected to 2013 double homicide



FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has reported an update on the 2013 double homicide case of Vicky Purdy and Ricky Dodson.

On Monday, February 3, the Franklin County Circuit Court Grand Jury indicted 43-year-old Daniel Elwood Duncan of North Carolina on two felony counts of felony First Degree Murder, two counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Willfully Defiling a Dead Body, and Possessing or Transporting a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.  

The sheriff said Duncan was arrested on October 4, 2024, after “significant developments” were made in the case.

The sheriff said Duncan will remain in custody without bond while his trial is pending.
