VINTON, Va. (WFXR) – The Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Vinton are joyful to announce the Annual Christmas Parade presented by American Efficiency Inns.
The parade is scheduled for Thursday, December 5 at 7 p.m. along with other events to bring the community holiday spirit.
Before the parade, a tree-lighting ceremony and other entertainment will start at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Building. Mayor Grose will greet the crowd before lighting the tree and other festivities begin. The Floyd Ward Dance Ensemble will follow the tree lighting with holiday-themed performances.
The floats for the parade will be staged at the Vinton War Memorial Park and River Park Shopping with staging starting at 4:30 p.m., and the parade starting at 7 p.m. The floats will go down Washinton Avenue, turn on Maple Treet, and continue to Cleveland Avenue and Pollard Street.
The parade will conclude at the Billy Byrd lower parking lot. Everyone is encouraged to gather together to watch the parade through downtown Vinton.
Beginning around 5:30 p.m., road closures will take place on the parade routes as a part of their safety measures for participants in the parade and spectators.
Drivers traveling through the Town of Vinton between 5 pm. and 10 p.m. are advised to use different routes and plan for road closures.
Road closures will impact the following sections of town: Washington Avenue, Maple Street, Cleveland Avenue, Jackson Avenue, and Lee Avenue.
To find good spots to watch the parade, spectators are encouraged to arrive early. Parade entries will close on Friday, November 29.
