GALAX, Va. (WFXR) — Galax Fire Department credits a child with waking up their family during a house fire.
Crews responded to the home on Frazier Road just after midnight Sunday. They reported fire and smoke coming out of the attic. GFD says it was an electrical fire.
The Department gave a shout out to a child who woke up to realize the home was on fire. They say the child got their four family members out of bed and everyone escaped safely. GFD says there were no smoke alarms in the house and the fire “could have been a huge tragedy.”
