LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Get the family together for the Bright Nights Block Party in Downtown Lynchburg for a festive time with something for everyone to enjoy.
The Block Party is on Sunday, November 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Festive fun includes strolling through Super Rad’s Arcade Alley, going to the Amazement Square’s Sock Skating Rink, and the Craddock Terry Tree Lighting at 7:00 p.m. Attendees can also get a picture with Santa, enjoy Carolers, and ride on the “Reindeer: Carousel.”
Sip seasonal brews at one of the two Beergardens, Starr Hill on Main and Three Roads Brewing. Food options will be in the Food Truck Zone with more than 60 artisan vendors.
There will be live stage entertainment to kick off the season and kids can enjoy face painting, an interactive Academy Art Bus, and photo opportunities.
Road and parking lot closures will occur. Details are listed below.
The following closures include:
- Commerce Street (between 10th Street and Main Street) will be closed from 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Portions of 11th, 12th, and 13th Streets will be closed from 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
NOTE: Towing will be enforced in all restricted areas.
During this time, alternate routes should be used by all motorists including emergency vehicles.
Parking lot closures include:
- 12th Street Parking Lot
- Crossroads Parking Lot, 1310 Main Street
Both lots will be closed from 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
NOTE: Towing will be enforced in these lots.
Parking information:
- Parking will not be allowed on the affected streets or in the affected parking lots between 12:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
- All other on-street parking and public parking lots will remain available and free of charge

Main Street:
- Main Street will be open for one-way traffic (westbound from the expressway) for the event.

Shuttles will be available from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. from the following locations:
- Clay Street Parking Lot
- Corner of Court Street/5th Street
- Uptown Deck on Main Street
- Corner of Main Street/10th Street
- Corner of Main Street/12th Street
