Blue Ridge Knights kickoff inaugural football season in fall of 2025

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – There’s a new homeschool football team that will make it’s debut in the fall of 2025. The team was created by Knights head football coach Jonathan Deaton.

Coach Deaton, is a former Glenvar High School football player and looks to continue to grow the game of football through the homeschool ranks. According to Coach Deaton this is great way to help athletes grow on and off the field.

“I love the game of football and I wanted to bring another athletic organization to the Roanoke Valley where our kids could thrive not only on but off the field and if we can make a difference by impacting kids and families lives in the Roanoke Valley, I’m all for it.”

The program is set up to incorporate baseball, basketball, and cheer teams as well, but at a later date. The Knights first practice will be on July 14, 2025 over at Lucy Addison Middle School in Roanoke.
