36-year-old man arrested in connection to two Lynchburg shootings



LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg Police Department announces an arrest in a series of shootings that occurred in October and November of 2024.

One shooting occurred on Tuesday, October 8 in the 4500 block of Hilltop Drive, and the other on Tuesday, November 5 in the 1000 block of Chowan Avenue, according to LPD.

After investigating both incidents, LPD arrested 36-year-old Lorenzo Callands of Lynchburg, as the suspect involved in both shootings.

LPD says, based on the evidence collected, a search warrant was obtained for Mr. Callands’ home and was executed on Tuesday, November 26. During the search, officers found three firearms, one of them being stolen.

Officers also allegedly found a small amount of marijuana inside the home.

Callands was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

He is currently being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.

Other charges are pending in connection to the shootings, according to LPD.

The incidents remain under investigation.
