ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – An 18-foot-tall inflatable snowman mysteriously went missing Monday night, taking a bit of holiday spirit with it.
Thomas Huffman says he looked out the window to see his massive lawn decoration had disappeared. When he checked the security footage, he saw someone cross the street into his front yard at 2:15 a.m. Roanoke Police confirm that’s when Frosty was taken.
“I put a lot of time into putting my decorations up,” said Huffman, who added that the snowman cost a few hundred dollars. “It takes me I’d say at least two weeks or more to put everything up, so when you see something like that’s taken, it makes you a bit disappointed especially getting closer to Christmas time and especially when you know everyone else enjoys it just as much.”
Huffman says neighbors took pictures with Frosty every winter. His Facebook post about the theft has dozens of comments, including one with the hashtag “#BringBackFrosty.” Another is from a grandmother who said she’d been planning to bring her grandchildren to see him.
Huffman says if you see Frosty or know what happened to him, you should call Roanoke Police. Frosty has a flex seal tape patch-up on the back of his head and Huffman’s name is written on the bottom.
